Ian Rankin


Ian has been involved in all aspects of Scottish rugby starting playing for Scottish Schools out of Morrisons Academy and playing his senior rugby for Edinburgh Wanderers and Howe of Fife, captaining both, he also represented  North and Midlands over seven seasons.

Coaching career

His coaching career has seen him coach at Howe, Murrayfield Wanderers and Kirkcaldy before earning a professional contract during which time he was head coach of the Caledonia Reds, Edinburgh Reivers, Manager of Edinburgh, and assistant coach of Scotland U20s, and Scotland 'A' for four seasons.

He returned to club rugby to coach Dundee with the highlights being their return to Premiership rugby with a couple of Cup Final appearances and finishing second to Melrose in 2012. He has been also heavily involved in the Scotland Club International squad as both coach and manager for five seasons.

Ian runs an arable/ vegetable farm in Fife and has two married children. In his spare time enjoys cycling and trying to master the game of golf.
