Jim Stevenson, was born in Rutherglen and educated at Stonelaw High School. He attended Motherwell College of Further Education where he studied engineering. Jim retired from his post as a local government officer with Glasgow City Council in 2012.

Jim played rugby with Rutherglen, Cambuslang and Dalziel rugby clubs and represented both Glasgow and District Union and Lanarkshire during a career spanning over thirty years. He served as President of Cambuslang RFC for many years and he is a past Board member on the Glasgow District Board.

Jim served as the Premier 3 representative on Council in 2005-07 and as President of the Scottish Rugby Union in 2008-09 and 2009-10.

Jim is a Trustee of the Murrayfield Centenary Fund.
