Map of Grampian regionThe Grampian region in the North East of Scotland covers three local authority areas:

  • Aberdeen City
  • Aberdeenshire
  • Moray.

Grampian has 22 rugby clubs, 257 primary schools, 37 secondary schools and eight private schools. 

There are 1532 adults (81 women) and 3171 youth rugby players (of which 175 are girls)  in Grampian, of which 211 are women and girls.

Developing rugby in Grampian

Pete Young is Scottish Rugby’s regional development manager for Grampian. He has worked in sports development for 16 years in Scotland and Northern Ireland, and took, up post in 2006.

Pete has played rugby for Edinburgh University, Stade Hendayais, Heriot's, Lismore and Belfast Harlequins. In 1998 he was a member of the Scottish Universities squad who took part in the first Students World Cup in France.
