Chris Reid

Chris started his senior playing rugby career at Glasgow Academicals in 1981 and progressed to Hillhead then Hillhead/Jordanhill via Stratchclyde Police RFC in 1985 where he spent 18 years playing and coaching. He credits the coaches at Hills, especially the then head coach Matt Lee, for the encouragement and support to start coaching; since then he has been fortunate to work with some of the top coaches in the country.

His coaching journey has allowed him to coach at Hillhead/Jordanhill (men and women), Strathclyde Police RFC, Cartha Queens Park, and Glasgow Hawks. Chris has worked with some outstanding young talent with Glasgow under-16s where he has enjoyed watching some of the youngsters progress into the professional game and on to Scotland. During his coaching career he has coached the British Police Women's Team for three years, Rugby Ecosse 7s, Wooden Spoon 7s, and has been involved with the Glasgow Thistles.

For the last two years he has been Scotland Women Assistant Coach in the XVs, which led me to him being asked to assist with the Scotland Women 7s programme.

He retired in July 2012 after 30 years in the police force where he worked as a police dog handler/trainer. Chris is now employed as a part time rugby development officer with Renfrewshire Council and assists with women's and girls' rugby in the west region alongside development officer and Scotland Women hooker, Lindsey Smith.

He is married to Eileen who is very supportive and understanding of all his rugby involvement.
