Born on 6 August 1984 in Rutherglen, Scott William Forrest represented Scotland at under-19 level then made his under-21 debut in the 2004 world championship match against England at Galashiels and played for the side throughout 2005.

His debut for Scotland 7s came in the IRB tournaments in New Zealand and the USA in February 2006 and he captained the squad throughout the next two seasons, leading his side to the Plate final in the final round at Murrayfield in May 2008. Following retirement from playing, he was appointed head coach of the Scotland Women's 7s squad for their debut 2012 season and tournaments in Amsterdam, London, Ghent and Moscow, and continues in the role this season.

A former pupil of Hamilton College, he has a degree in sport and exercise science from Strathclyde University.
