Domestic rugby activity update

Domestic rugby activity update

The message below was issued to all Clubs and Schools via Club Communications at 12pm on Friday 9 September.

Sent on behalf of Gav Scott, Head of Rugby Development

As a mark of respect, and to acknowledge the sad passing of Her Majesty the Queen, Scottish Rugby issued a statement at 8.30pm last night (Thursday 8 September) postponing ‘domestic competitive matches’ this weekend.

I’m writing to provide further guidance and clarity to our clubs and schools on this matter.

The postponement of competitive matches this weekend applies to all League and Conference fixtures. Scottish Rugby’s competitions team will follow the usual process as set out in National Competition Rules for the rescheduling of all League and Conference fixtures and will be in touch with new dates in due course. Please bear with us as we work through this process.

For any clubs or schools scheduled to host activity which falls outside of Leagues or Conferences – such as training, friendlies or festivals – these may still go ahead at the discretion of individual clubs and schools.

As a mark of respect, and in keeping with the tone of National Mourning, organisers may wish to hold a period of silence/and or play the National Anthem at the start of events, and players may wish to wear black armbands.

I hope that this prompt decision from Scottish Rugby has allowed your club to make timely operational decisions.

On behalf of everyone at Scottish Rugby I would like to thank you all for your understanding at this time.

We will issue an update early next week with details on returning to competitive activity for the following week.
