141 years of proud tradition - 1872 Cup

All roads lead to Murrayfield on Boxing Day for the latest re-enactment in a proud 141-year-old rugby tradition.

It’s Edinburgh Rugby v Glasgow Warriors with RaboDirect PRO12 league points at stake as well as the chance to lift the 1872 Cup – the destination of which is decided over the two legs of the game.

First leg is at Murrayfield on Thursday with a 3.05pm kick-off and then the second leg is at Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow on New Year’s Day (Wednesday 1 January) with a 6.05pm kick-off.

Glasgow presently sit eight points above Edinburgh in the league with a game in hand and are the current holders of the Cup.

Edinburgh, fresh from their victory over reigning league champions Leinster last weekend, list Roddy Grant (pictured above), their openside flanker, who will be making his 100th appearance.
