Tennent’s Women’s Premier League PREVIEW | Newcomers Annan on the road to Corstorphine

Annan Women will look to bounce back from defeat in their Tennent’s Premier League bow away to Corstorphine this weekend (Sunday 2 September, kick-off 2pm).

The Dumfriesshire club gained promotion at the end of last season after topping BT National League 1 in a campaign that saw them lose only two matches.

Their week one opponents, Stirling County, provided stiffer opposition however, featuring Scotland Women internationalists in their ranks, and were too powerful for the new team, recording an impressive victory.

Annan will be looking to bounce back from that tough start to the term when they visit Edinburgh this Sunday.

The league’s new team have their feet firmly on the ground as they continue to grow and make a name for themselves.

Annan Head Coach, Colin Warrick, said: “I am a great believer in letting the players set the targets themselves, as they did last year.

But my personal targets are for the team to be competitive in our games and to learn and improve as both individual players and as a team.

“Last year was a great year with the team going beyond all our targets and winning the league was amazing and the squad played some great rugby.”
