Mark Bennett is a highly rated centre who can also play on the wing. He has represented Scotland at under-18, under- 20 and Sevens levels, and captained the Glasgow under-18 and under-16 teams.
His first caps for Scotland 7s were won in Port Elizabeth in December 2013 and in the Bowl winning squad in Hong Kong in March 2014. He was Scotland's top try scorer in Hong Kong that weekend with five touchdowns.
Bennett instantly impressed in the short game and after only two caps on the World Series was named in the 2014 Commonwealth Games squad where he was the stand-out performer for Scotland, in the tournament.
Bennett turned out for Cumnock all the way through to the 1XV before moving to Ayr and after a storming season with the 2011 Premier Cup champions he signed for French Top 14 club, Clermont Auvergne. Bennett returned to Scotland in November 2012 on a loan deal with Glasgow Warriors before signing a permanent contract with the Scotstoun side for season 2013/14.
His father, Stewart, played for Carnoustie HSFP, Kilmarnock and Cumnock. His sister also plays and was selected for the under-18 Scotland pathway squad.
