Ben Chalmers

Ben Chalmers has represented Borders at under-16, under-17 and under-18, and Scotland under-17. The former Earlston HS pupil undertook a Rugby Performance course at Edinburgh College, before signing to French Top 14 side Bordeaux Bègles.

He made his Scotland under-20 debut in the starting XV against the Irish, in the opening 6 Nations match of 2014 in Athlone and continued in the the Netherdale match against England, where he scored his first international points through an early penalty. He went on to play in the 2 of the remaining 6 Nations fixtures, only missing out on the final game, when Scotland lost away to Wales.

Ben appeared twice for Scotland under-20 in the 2014 IRB Junior World Championship, starting at stand-off against South Africa and New Zealand in the pool stages.

He is of the Chalmers rugby dynasty, with dad, Craig, a former British & Irish Lion and 60-time Scotland cap and his aunt, Paula, won 75 caps for Scotland Women.
