Stephanie Lauren Johnston was in the Scotland Academy squad in 2007/08 and the national development squad the following season.
She made her Scotland debut off the bench against Italy in the 2010 6 Nations and scored her first international try - one of brace to her name in the game - against the Netherlands in Amsterdam, in the 33-10 victory in November 2011.
Steph led her country in all four tournaments during the debut Scotland Women 7s season in 2012, scoring four tries in Amsterdam, two tries at Rugby Rocks London, five tries at the FIRA-AER European qualifier in Ghent and two tries and a conversion at the FIRA WRWC qualifier in Moscow. After leading her team in the two 2013 European tournaments, she returned to play in the 2014 FIRA tournament in Bergen, leading the side again to promotion to the Grand Prix series, scoring five tries and a conversion. Again sporting the captain's armband, she scored three tries in the side's opening tournament Bowl win in Kazan, Russia.
She was selected to play for the GB team at the World Student Games 7s in Brive in July 2012 and scored tries against Japan, Belgium and France on the way to GB's title win at the tournament.
A former pupil of Grove Academy (Dundee), and post-graduate student at Glasgow University’s veterinary school, she now works as a vet in Worcester. She won RBS Premier Women's Player of the Season in 2012.
