Lisa Janice Martin was Murrayfield Wanderers’ player of the season in 2007/08, and she won the Premier League’s equivalent title the same season.
She began playing after going to watch Scotland games with her parents and then going along to a Portobello Hornets open day.
Lisa has played for Scotland’s under-16, under-18 and A teams and made her Scotland debut off the bench against Ireland in the last 2010 RWC game, having come into the squad as replacement for the injured Celia Hawthorn. Her first start for Scotland was in the January 2011 friendly against Spain in Madrid.
She led her club, Murrayfield Wanderers, to victory in the Sarah Beany Cup in 2014 and has played for Scotland 7s, Scottish University 7s and Great Britain University 7s.
Outside rugby, she has played basketball at under-16 level for East of Scotland and was a member of the Scottish Schools Cup Final winning teams from 2002 to 2007. Her dad played rugby while stationed with the RAF and her nephew is contracted to a Premier League football academy.
The Portobello High School former pupil studied Applied Sports Science at University of Edinburgh and is currently a performance sport co-ordinator.
