It is our policy to ensure that barriers to participation in rugby - real or perceived - are removed. This is particularly the case for groups currently under represented in our game, and for those who traditionally may not have seen rugby as their sport of choice. We are committed to developing processes, practices and plans to ensure that rugby is open to all.
Whether individuals play for a mainstream club, or for a club providing the opportunity for gay and bisexual people to participate in the sport, the Scottish Rugby supports the development of rugby across all communities and groups.
There are now a growing number of gay rugby teams in the UK that provide hugely successful examples of friendly cohabitation between people of different sexual orientation. Amongst our own membership these clubs include the Caledonian Thebans.
Scottish Rugby welcomes applications from gay or bisexual groups which may want to participate in rugby. If your group would like to join our membership please complete the application process.
If you can't find the information you are looking for, or have a specific query on our commitment to equality, please contact Scottish Rugby’s Head of Regulation, Graham Ireland, at email@example.com or 0131 346 5004.
