BT club competitions draw
The third round and quarter-final of the BT Cup were drawn at BT Murrayfield today, as well as the semi-finals of the Sarah Beaney Cup, the BT Women’s Plate and BT Women’s Bowl competitions. Youth players from Boroughmuir, Callum Newell and Michael Gray, helped with the draw of both the third round and the quarter-final of the BT Cup ahead of their under-16 National Youth League Cup semi-final with Ayr on Sunday.Highlights from the third round of the BT Cup draw include a clash of the BT Premiership teams, with Boroughmuir facing either Hawick or Melrose, and a local Edinburgh derby between Currie and BT National League Division 1 side Watsonians. Nick Rennie, Scottish Rugby’s Head of Club Services, said: “There are some exciting ties throughout both draws and it is a chance for clubs to build on their form throughout the leagues. The clubs are playing for a chance to experience Cup Finals Day at BT Murrayfield in April, where they can encourage their local communities to get behind them and celebrate club rugby.”Former Scotland international and current Murrayfield Wanderers Ladies President, Beth Dickens, completed the draw for the women’s competitions. Dickens made her debut for Scotland Women in 2002 and totalled 52 caps for her country in the front row. In the Sarah Beaney Cup semi-finals, Murrayfield Wanderers host RHC and Ayr welcome Hillhead Jordanhill. Broughton visit Stirling County and Watsonians welcome Aberdeenshire in the semi-finals of the BT Women’s Plate semi-finals, while Anna travel to Howe of Fife and Grangemouth host either Glasgow University or Garioch in the BT Women’s Bowl semi-finals.
