BT Womens Premier League PREVIEW | Cartha Queen’s Park look to make a statement
Cartha Queen’s Park Women host defending champions Murrayfield Wanderers at Dumbreck as both sides look to build on last week’s wins.
Both sides had disappointing starts to their campaigns with losses on the road but home side, Cartha, are optimistic about their prospects for the season having battled past Ayr in Round 2.
Steve Meenagh, Coach of Cartha Queen’s Park, said: “Cartha Women look like a new team this season, with new ambitions and a clear goal of where we want to be.
“This year we are seeing regular numbers of 25 plus at training and the girls are developing well.
“They relish the challenge of playing in the BT Womens Premier League and want to improve after every game.
“The girls have all set the bar by saying they want to maintain their ‘Premier League club’ status.”
Cartha are excited by the prospect of making a statement to their competitors as they prepare for Wanderers’ visit.
Meenagh added: “With Wandies coming to Dumbreck this Sunday, the Cartha girls are really looking forward to playing the current champions.
“It is an opportunity for them to really express themselves and test their ability against a quality side.”
Murrayfield Wanderers coach, Steven Turnbull, is also looking forward to the prospect of a close match.
He said: “We are very much looking forward to another challenging game this weekend against Cartha Ladies.
“We had a strong performance last week against Watsonians, so we will be looking to build on that on Sunday.
“We are expecting a tough game, so it should be a cracker.”
Elsewhere this Sunday, Hillhead Jordanhill will be looking to continue their fine run of form when they visit Watsonians while RHC Cougars host Ayr.
In the remaining match Stewartry Women take on Stirling County at Greenlaw.
Clubs from across BT Women’s National Leagues 1 and 2 will also continue their season this weekend.
