Kellock takes seat in Legends’ Lair for Royal Bank RugbyForce

Scottish Rugby’s Alastair Kellock has joined Wales’ Tom Shanklin and England’s Will Greenwood and Lewis Moody in offering grassroots clubs across Britain genuine support and advice as they become honorary board members through the Royal Bank of Scotland RugbyForce initiative, which launched today. The grassroots partnership between Royal Bank and Scottish Rugby aims to help clubs attract new members and become more sustainable.New for 2016, clubs across Scotland will have the chance to see Kellock join their club as an advisor for a year. This commitment from Kellock, who led the Glasgow Warriors to the Guinness Pro12 title before retiring, will go beyond the usual level of involvement in the grassroots game and will see him become ingrained in the chosen club. From offering advice both on and off the pitch, to attending AGMs, club events including Royal Bank RugbyForce Weekend and advising on how to maximise their facilities, the honorary board member will immerse himself in his new club.To launch the new incentive Kellock joined the three other legends in taking his seat in the ‘Legends’ Lair’ to reveal what he is looking for in a club and how he intends to use his playing and business experience to add his support, with legendary referee Nigel Owens also making a cameo appearance.Kellock said of his new role, “I’ve stayed in the world of rugby and I’m now using skills off the pitch which I learnt on it in the business side of the game. That’s the special quality Royal Bank RugbyForce will allow me to bring to a local club – combining commercial know-how with sporting expertise and insight to produce a winning team off the pitch, and increasing the chances off and on the pitch too.”In addition to having Kellock join as an honorary board member, clubs across Scotland have the opportunity to receive grants, and guidance to participate in the Royal Bank RugbyForce Weekend by registering before 13th May. Royal Bank RugbyForce registrations are open now via www.scottishrugby.org/rugbyforce.
