The Borders & East Lothian completed a clean sweep of wins against their visiting Edinburgh opponents in last night's Fosroc Academy fixtures in Galashiels.
While the score lines weren’t as dramatic as Sunday’s corresponding fixtures in Aberdeen between Caledonia and Glasgow & the West, it was still a fairly convincing outing for the hosts who lead throughout each of the matches at three age-grades.
The U16 sides were first to take to the field when the hosts opened up a led 10-5 at the interval, before scoring two converted tries without reply in the second-half to win 24-5.
The Borders & East Lothian (B&EL) scores came from Patrick Cannon, Finn Douglas, Finlay Douglas and Luke Henderson, with Luke Townsend kicking the goals, while Michele Marenduzzo registered with the only try from Edinburgh.
The U18 encounter was another close-run contest, with the B&EL Academy leading once again at the turn (19-12) and finishing the contest 33-17 thanks to a try difference of five to three – Charlie Farmer, Patrick Harrison, Rudi Browm and Geran Clark (who also kicked four conversions) crossing the paint for the hosts, with the Edinburgh scores coming from John Sprott, Andrew McCall and Campbell Swanson.
The B&EL U20 side then completed the ‘red-and-whitewash’ with a three-try victory without reply.
Tries from Liam Henderson, Jack Fisher and Harri Morris, converted by Paul Cunningham (2) and Kyle McHie with their try line untroubled doing the business to complete a successful night for the host academy (21-0).
