BT Women’s Premier League Preview: Ayr travel to County in search of victory
13 Oct 2016
This Friday evening sees Ayr venture to Bridgehaugh to take on Stirling County at 7.45pm as the recently promoted side look to secure their first win of the season.Ayr have experienced a tough start to their first year in the BT Women’s Premier League, losing four from four, but have arguably been up against some of the strongest teams in the league, such as Hillhead Jordanhill and RHC Cougars.Despite their losses, Ayr recently secured a try bonus point against Stewartry which finished 33-46 to the Sirens, and the West coast side will now aim for a win on Friday in the hope they will move up to the middle section of the league table.Stirling have also struggled to get off the mark, but after finding winning ways last Sunday against Melrose at home, they will be keen to gain some momentum.Stirling County Head Coach, Graham Mackin, spoke about his team’s preparations for Friday: “We’re looking forward to two tough training sessions this week, focusing on core and specialist skills and looking to challenge ourselves and improve, which is always the key to our training.Experience tells us that there are no easy fixtures in this league and Ayr will be yet another tough match.”All other BT Women’s Premier League matches will take place on Sunday, whereby Murrayfield Wanderers who are the only unbeaten team remaining in the league, welcome Cartha Queen’s Park to the back pitches of BT Murrayfield.Following their first 31-0 defeat of the season to Wandies, Cougars travel to Stewartry with the hope of returning to winning ways, while the Sirens will look to build on their last two wins against Ayr and Stirling County.Table toppers Hillhead will host Borders side Melrose.Clubs from across the BT Women’s National Leagues Division 1 and 2 will also continue their season this weekend.
