The fourth BT Volunteer of the Month award was awarded to Alex Donaghy from Cartha Queen’s Park for his hard work and commitment towards all aspects of the club.  Alex is an exemplary club member and volunteer who consistently offers his time and energy to all at Cartha.In the youth section and through his role as girls’ youth manager, he has developed an encouraging environment for participation in rugby across the age groups and within the wider community.Alex played a crucial part in growing numbers in the girls’ section of the club from six to 35 within a year, while also having coached both U15 and U18 teams to impressive victories at recent festivals and competitions.Cartha Queen’s Park President, Gordon Miller, said: “Alex is a hugely respected ambassador and volunteer within and outwith the club.He fully deserves this recognition for his exceptional and unstinting efforts as a volunteer for, his club, schools, the wider community and Scottish club rugby as a whole.”Alex also coaches the U15 girls’ school team at Shawlands Academy and thanks to Alex’s tutelage and skills during the month of December, Shawlands won the U15 Girls’ Schools’ Cup Final at Scotstoun.  Alex operates a landscaping business and despite work demands he dedicates his time and expertise on a voluntary basis no less than six and often seven days a week with remarkable results in building and developing the teams who he coaches.He is the one of the longstanding first team forwards coaches where he takes and develops the first, seconds and third team players ever Tuesday and Thursday night and on Saturday match days.Alex has also freely assisted grounds volunteers this month and throughout the summer, using his experience on drainage work, digging machines, as well as sourcing materials for drainage and pitch improvement projects.Winners of the BT Club Volunteer of the Month award are invited to BT Murrayfield to attend the annual Scottish Rugby Club Awards Dinner.
