Club round-up | Finalists confirmed & Marr gain promotion to BT Premiership

A number of semi-final fixtures took place over the weekend with several clubs booking their places in respective competition finals and one club gaining promotion to the top flight of the BT Premiership. Marr Rugby overcame GHA 39-22 in their final league game of the season on Saturday to confirm their promotion from BT National League Division 1 into Scotland’s premier club competition.The west coast club finished top of their table, four points ahead of Edinburgh Academical, having only lost one game this season.Elsewhere, the BT Premiership play-offs took place with both Melrose and Ayr confirming their places in the BT Premiership Grand Final on Saturday 15 April at The Greenyards.Melrose overcame Currie 42-15 at home while Ayr pushed past Glasgow Hawks 38-17 to see them through to the final, which will take place at the home of the Borders side who topped this season’s BT Premiership table.The two sides will then go head-to-head on Saturday 22 April in the BT Cup Final at the national stadium, as a repeat of the BT Premiership final showdown.In the Sarah Beaney Cup, Hillhead Jordanhill claimed a place in the final after defeating RHC Cougars, while defending champions Murrayfield Wanderers overpowered Edinburgh University to secure their position at BT Cup Finals Day.Stirling County will feature in the final of the BT Women’s Plate following their semi-final victory over Aberdeenshire Quines, and will face Stewatry at the national stadium after the BT Women’s Premier League club pushed past Broughton at the weekend.In the BT Women’s Bowl final, Kirkcaldy will meet Garioch following an impressive victory over Annan on Sunday.
