Death Of David Aitchison – Scotland B Full-Back
9 Jul 2009
Scottish Rugby sadly reports that David Aitchison, the former Scotland B full-back, died at Highland Hospice. He was 58.A full-back for Highland in his playing days, the former PE teacher at Millburn Academy played for Scotland B between 1974 and 1978. A reliable goal-kicker, Aitchison was unfortunate in that his career coincided with the then emerging Andy Irvine and Bruce Hay and despite performing in trial matches for the North District and scoring 172 points in 15 games for North and Midlands in the district championship between 1973 and 1978, Aitchison was named on the bench for the full squad several times without earning a cap.Scottish Rugby sends condolences to David’s immediate and extended family.
