The final BT Volunteer of the Month Award was awarded to David Wilson of Dunbar RFC, for his contribution to the club over the years. Having been involved with Dunbar since the age of 16, David has represented the club in every capacity through playing, coaching, presidency and currently as chairman.David represented Dunbar 1st XV for more than 30 years while also continually working on the collation of the club’s entire history from 1923/24 to present day.On receiving his award, which was presented by the club’s treasurer Fiona Blair, he said: “I am truly humbled to have been recognised as Volunteer of the Month, I enjoy working behind the scenes and it is great for the club to also receive recognition.”I try to get involved in most things through my various roles over the years, whether that be committee member, mini and midi coach, tour organiser, Scotland Club XV ticket convenor or UKCC Level 1 referee.David’s collation of Dunbar’s history has grown over the seasons with one of the rooms in his current home now dedicated to his collection and memorabilia of the club.I have really enjoyed putting together the history of the club and it has quickly become a passion of mine with over 150 folders detailing each season.”It does take up a lot of my time and I probably spend far too many hours putting it all together but I think it’s definitely worth it,” David added. As well as attending all meetings within the club as chairman, David also reports on the matches from the touchline with his camera and notebook to provide match reports, videos, photos for the club website and social media channels. He collates player statistics and records of appearances while also being known for his encyclopedia type knowledge of Dunbar RFC. April’s BT Try of the Month was awarded to Scotland Women and Murrayfield Wanderers full-back Chloe Rollie, for her score against Hillhead/Jordanhill in the final of the Sarah Beaney Cup on 16 April, where Wandies claimed a 30-10 win to seal their third consecutive title. Murrayfield Wanderers also won this season’s BT Women’s Premier League title to secure the double after overcoming Stirling County at home to pip Hillhead/Jordanhill to the top spot. The 2016 Scottish Rugby Club Awards Dinner will take place on Friday 27 May at BT Murrayfield and will salute the phenomenal contribution of the club game.
