Edinburgh Rugby bring festive cheer to children’s hospital
16 Dec 2013
Edinburgh Rugby returned from Sunday’s Heineken Cup success in Gloucester to bring some festive cheer to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. The players arrived bearing gifts donated by the squad and the club’s fans to be handed out around the wards.Back-row Roddy Grant [picture second from right], man of the match in Sunday’s 16-10 win at Kingsholm, said: “We really enjoy visiting the Hospital and putting some smiles on the youngsters’ faces.”The hospital is one of the club’s long-standing charity partners, so it’s great to support them and give something back to the community. The generosity shown by the club’s fans is again superb, and makes it a little easier for the kids not fortunate enough to spend Christmas at home.”Maureen Harrison, chief executive of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation (SKFF), said: “This time of year can be particularly difficult for young patients and their parents, however Edinburgh Rugby brought a flurry of festive cheer to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children (RHSC) this week.”At SKFF we are always working to make a child’s hospital stay better. The gifts donated by Edinburgh Rugby have done just that, lighting up the faces of many children who will stay in hospital this Christmas.”We would like to thank Edinburgh Rugby players and fans for their generous donations and continued support, their backing allows us to provide sick kids from across Scotland with services outwith NHS provision.”
