Fans to get first sight of 2019/20 Scotland kit

26 Jul 2019

The Scotland squad will today showcase the playing kit for the 2019/20 season to fans at a special supporters’ event at BT Murrayfield Stadium.

This season’s kit features the new and simplified logo of the
team and governing body’s principal partner, BT, which will feature on the
training kit throughout the season.

The new playing kit design will
make its first appearance in the Summer Test matches against France and
Georgia, returning for the 2020 Guinness Six Nations and summer tour.

Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer brands EE,
BT and Plusnet
, said: “We’re delighted that Scottish Rugby will unveil its
2019/20 kit with our new refreshed logo, giving us the platform to bring our
new brand to more people than ever before across the UK and the world.”

Today’s event – which is now at capacity – will
feature the first sight in the flesh of the 2019/20 kit as the team walks
through a guard of honour to a training session delivered by Head Coach Gregor
Townsend and his staff in front of attending fans.

Supporters will get to see the players put through their paces
and have the opportunity meet them afterwards for autographs and selfies.

Scottish Rugby Chief Operating Officer, Dominic McKay, said: “Scottish Rugby and the
Scotland squad are delighted take this chance to showcase the new kit for the
forthcoming campaign, which will be complemented by BT’s new and simplified
logo in the Summer Tests, Six Nations and summer tour.

“The event will be a great chance for us to personally thank
some of our most dedicated fans, where they’ll get a close-up view of the team
hard at work, before meeting the players for autographs and selfies at the end
of a tough week’s training as preparations continue for Rugby World Cup
2019.”

The home kit is the traditional navy blue with the Scottish Rugby tartan featuring on the back and shoulders of the jersey and side-panelling of the navy shorts, paired with white socks.

The alternate kit changes from the current silver colouring to sky blue and again features tartan elements. The shorts are also sky blue with tartan detailing and the socks are a combination of sky and navy blue.

Both kits have the Scotland logo embroidered on the left-hand
side of the chest, with the new Macron ‘hero’ logo sitting on the right-hand
side and the BT logo featuring in the centre. The Saltire returns on the left
sleeve.

The kit is produced with the Macron-designed ARMEVO + Bodytex fabrics and brings
back the Scottish Rugby tartan which featured on the extremely popular RWC2015
kit.

The jerseys are available in the
Authentic Body-fit jerseys (those worn by the players) and are also available
in a replica jersey which is the carbon copy of the authentic jersey in a
supporters’ fit.

Both the Ruby World Cup 2019 and
2019/20 season kits went on retail sale in the Scottish Rugby Store at BT
Murrayfield store today (Friday 26 July) and are available in all other
official Scottish rugby retail stores across the globe from tomorrow (Saturday
27 July).
