The deal, which will also see Ford supply vehicles during the Emirates Airline 7s, was launched at Murrayfield today by Scotland head coach Frank Hadden and a host of international players. Scottish Rugby’s Chief Executive Gordon McKie said today: “We’re delighted to welcome Ford as one of our key partners. Through our association, rugby will be driven to all parts of Scotland as we go about our business of developing, enhancing and promoting the game.” As part of the relationship Ford will provide Ranger, Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy cars. Mark Ovenden, Ford of Britain Marketing Director, said: The new Ford Ranger is powerful, agile and built to take on any challenge you throw at it so teaming up with Scottish Rugby was an obvious choice.” Ford joins Scottish Hydro Electric (sponsors of the community game); Baxters (official training partner); Martin Currie (age-grade national teams, women’s rugby and the Pathway programme); and John Lewis (Youth League Cup and Scottish Schools 7s) as new sponsors Scottish Rugby has had the privilege to announce this calendar year. Ford is the vehicle supplier to many other national rugby teams including England and Ireland as well as several in the southern hemisphere. With its tough attitude and 4×4 capabilities, the Ranger is already a firm favourite with rugby followers and its popularity is strengthened by the recent arrival of a more potent 3.0 TDCi engine plus automatic transmission in Thunder and Wildtrak guises. Meanwhile the S-MAX and Galaxy MPVs combine spacious cabins and class-leading safety standards with exceptional dynamic qualities while Mondeo, the newest member in the team, adds a touch of glamour on the pitch.
