In the opening few moments of the game Stirling County opened the scoring through a try by centre Ryan Southern who was making his debut for the host side, it was converted by Marcus Holden.

Moments later Ayrshire Bulls stand-off Tom Jordan intercepted a pass from Southern and took off at the speed of light towards the try line for a converted score.

County were reduced to 14-men when Walter Fifita was shown a yellow card for a deliberate knock-on.

It proved to be an expensive yellow card as Bulls pulled a head in the 10minutes following with tries from Robert Beattie and Arron Tait with Jordan converting one of them.

HALF-TIME: Stirling County 7-19 Ayrshire Bulls

County opened the scoring in the second half through a Holden penalty. However the Bulls soon got on the scoreboard through neat handling by Beattie to Joe Knight who off-loaded to replacement scrum-half Cam Jones who ran in for a try converted by Jordan.

Closing in on the hour mark the hosts got their rolling maul moving and hooker Angus Fraser secured the ball down once it got over the try-line with Holden adding the conversion.

With just over ten minutes left on the clock County’s patience paid off when scrum-half Sean Kennedy put in a neat little grubber kick for Ratu Tagive to collect and dot down. Holden converted to make it a two-point game.

Their perseverance paid of further as the hosts worked their way through multiple phases of attack before Kennedy passed back to Holden was waiting in the pocket who slotted a drop goal to win it by a point.

Boroughmuir Bears beat Southern Knights at Meggetland for the second consecutive week, this time triumphing 32-14 to jump into fourth place.

After two previous rumbles, the Bears’ driving maul successfully reached the line in the 10th minute, with Jerry Blyth-Lafferty scoring his first Bears try on his first start.

The home side had a second try 10 minutes later, as Murray Johnstone saw space at the side of a ruck, dummied and darted through.

Harry Mercer added three points to Boroughmuir’s total just before half time with a penalty in front of the sticks.

Bears started the second half in similarly excellent form to the first, and four minutes in captain Scott McGinley bounced off a defender and scored in the right corner.

The bonus point try came from Blyth-Lafferty, the young hooker grabbing a brace of maul tries.

The Meggetland side’s best score came in the 59th minute, as Trystan Andrews and Robbie McCallum found great offloads in tight spaces to put Joe Jenkins over in acres of space.

Southern Knights began to find some foothold in the game, and replacement hooker Duncan Hood scored an outstanding solo try as he stepped inside twice from the right and dived under the posts.

And the away side grabbed a second with the last play of the game, as Aidan Cross did well to catch a low pass at full pace and touched down on the left side.
