Hamilton’s Gordon Lindsay has been awarded the seventh and penultimate BT Volunteer of the Month Award following his commitment to getting more people involved in rugby at his club. Gordon has been the driving force behind the club’s new Ladies’ section and has taken on the role of Head Coach to ensure they succeed in cementing their place within the club structure. He hopes that, in the future, the team will be able to join the BT Women’s Leagues while Gordon’s enthusiasm for women’s rugby has resulted in him being widely respected by not only Hamilton’s female players, but also by members of the club.As part of his determination to introduce more people to the game, Gordon has recently taken up the position of Tartan Touch Ambassador for Hamilton, as the club look to kick-off their touch season in the summer. On top of this, Gordon is a devoted husband and carer to his wife, Helen, who suffered a stroke several years ago and is continuing her recovery.Gordon has encouraged Helen to take part in fun runs to raise money for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland, and the two recently enjoyed visits to BT Murrayfield to support the national team.Winners of the BT Club Volunteer of the Month award are invited to BT Murrayfield to attend the annual Scottish Rugby Club Awards Dinner. They will also receive up to£500 towards travel and accommodation to enable them to attend and can invite up to nine friends. Don’t miss the final chance to nominate your club, volunteer or try of the month for April.
