Greenock Wanderers held an Open Day back in March which invited new players from around the community as they attempt to boost their playing numbers.
The club have found success in engaging with the local community and providing positive experiences for the whole family.
After the event Greenock President John Black, said, “It is wonderful to see so many new players taking part in rugby at Greenock Wanderers! Callum Harrison (Club Development Officer) has been working closely with the local community to raise the profile of rugby and events like this where we involve the whole family is the key to all our success as a club.”
The sessions they delivered were non-contact and covered different skills such as evasion, passing and catching. The open day targeted primary 1-7 pupils from three different schools.
Overall, this event was successful as 22 new players attended and enhanced their strong school to club link.
The club provided free tea, coffee and bacon rolls to all the females who came along as a thank you on Mother’s Day, as they look to increase playing opportunities across Inverclyde.
