Highland continue pursuit in round two of BT Cup

The draw has been made for the second round of the BT Cup with 24 clubs from the BT Leagues going head-to-head across the country. BT Premiership clubs who finished outside of the top four play-off places last season have now joined the competition, providing some interesting ties for the next instalment of BT Cup action.The BT Cup competition welcomes Highland for the new season, as a result of their promotion to BT National League Division 3. The squad will travel to BT Premiership outfit Glasgow Hawks for a second round encounter.Former BT Premiership side, Selkirk, travel to Myreside to face the club who replaced them in the league, the in-form Watsonians. Marcus Di Rollo’s men have recorded the perfect start to their league campaign, overcoming defending champions Heriot’s and Borders side Hawick in the opening rounds.A clash of the BT National League Division 1 clubs sees Jed-Forest welcome Falkirk to Riverside Park, with both teams winning their opening league games.Scottish Rugby’s Director of Domestic Rugby, Keith Russell, said: “There are some interesting match-ups from the second round draw of the 2016/17 BT Cup, with six BT Premiership teams now included.The early stages of the competition are where the journey to BT Murrayfield begins and these games will form an exciting set of fixtures.
