Scotland 7s got off to a winning start in Hong Kong, with a convincing 28-15 defeat of Russia, to top pool B ahead of day two of competition. James Johnstone scored a brace as Jamie Farndale and James Fleming also crossed the whitewash in a dogged yet impressive Scotland performance. Captain Scott Wight was superb with the boot and added the extras to all four scores.Scotland face England (5.32 am GMT) and South Africa (10.54am GMT) in their final pool games, with the results determining who they will face on the third and final day of the tournament. Head Coach Calum MacRae said: “First and foremost the win was what we needed to get our tournament off and running. The guys delivered that.We applied pressure well with accurate restarts and came up with ball.”The chances we created were finished off pretty well when they came off the back of solid set piece plays. “We can build on that going into tomorrow and focus on maintaining possession of the ball for longer to control the ties. “Both games will be challenging tomorrow but the players have trained well this week and are prepared for it.  Having played both teams this Series a few times, we’re aware of their threats.”With accurate and passionate performances we can look forward to what’s to come.” Scotland 7s squad to compete in Hong Kong 7s, round seven of the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Series:Hugh Blake Jamie FarndaleDougie FifeJames FlemingRory HughesJames JohnstoneGavin LoweFraser LyleNick McLennanJoe NayacavouMark RobertsonScott Wight
