Horne leaves Ayrshire Bulls to join Glasgow Warriors

Ayrshire Bulls Head Coach Pete Horne has left the club to take on the role of skills coach at his former club, Glasgow Warriors.

The 32-year-old makes the step up to the professional coaching ranks, having cut his coaching teeth with the Millbrae men following his retirement from playing in December 2021.

Having initially joined the Bulls as an assistant coach for the 2021 FOSROC Super6, Horne was appointed as the club’s Head Coach ahead of the 2022 Sprint Series, guiding his team to third place in the overall standings.

Horne said: “I want to
say a massive thank you to everyone down at Ayr, because it’s a fantastic club
and they’ve been the ideal introduction to coaching for me.

“I couldn’t have
been luckier.

“I’ve got a lot of special memories and I want to wish them
all the best for what comes next.”

Scottish Rugby’s Performance Director, Jim Mallinder, added: “Pete is someone who is held in high regard across the Scottish rugby community, and his enthusiasm for the game makes it easy to see why.

“I know just how passionate he is about Glasgow Warriors, and I have no doubt that he will approach the role with the same energy and high standards with which he represented both club and country with distinction.

“It’s also great to see a hungry young Scottish coach come through the FOSROC Super6 – to see Pete graduate from Ayrshire Bulls into the professional coaching ranks is really pleasing, and hopefully he is the first of many to follow that pathway.”
