Medical Bulletin From The Scotland Camp
2 Nov 2009
All 35 players invited to the Scotland three-day training camp at St Andrews in preparation for this month’s Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Tests against Fiji, Australia and Argentina, were assessed by the Scotland medical team this morning. The seven Edinburgh players in the squad who started last night’s Magners League game against the Dragons did not train this afternoon. This is standard practice. Both Mike Blair and Kyle Traynor, who began last night’s contest on the bench, trained today. The seven Edinburgh players in the squad who started last night’s Magners League game against the Dragons did not train this afternoon. This is standard practice. Both Mike Blair and Kyle Traynor, who began last night’s contest on the bench, trained today. The two other Edinburgh players who were forced to miss the Dragons’ game through injury – Chris Paterson and Alan MacDonald – are continuing in their recovery and both are expected to resume team training during the course of the camp. Scotland doctor James Robson said: “Of the Edinburgh players on duty last night we’ll look to give a bit of time for the bumps and bruises to settle. Ben Cairns, who retired with a knee injury, will not be training tomorrow (Tuesday). He is on treatment and rehabilitation and will be subject to further assessment.” Other players not participating in training this afternoon were Nikki Walker (Ospreys) and Alasdair Dickinson (Gloucester). Robson added: “Nikki is recovering well from the facial injury he sustained on Friday and I would anticipate he will return to training tomorrow, while Ally will be going to Spire Murrayfield Hospital for some isokinetic testing as part of his assessment process following the shoulder injury he sustained last month. This testing basically involves exercising the shoulder in various positions.”
