National Coaching Conference confirmed for 2017

Scottish Rugby Coach Development will host their annual National Coaching Conference at Edinburgh Napier University on Saturday 13 May with the newly developed Technical Blueprint ‘The Scottish Way’ confirmed as one of the event’s key themes. The Technical Blueprint ‘The Scottish Way’ aims to develop the game through improving the technical rugby knowledge and understanding of players, coaches and match officials, through consistent messaging across all stages of the player pathway.Player welfare, Performance Analysis and Technology will also feature as key themes with the conference aimed at coaches who are UK Coaching Certificate Level 2 qualified and involved with youth/adult rugby across Scotland.Scottish Rugby’s Head of International and Age Grade Rugby, Sean Lineen, and Mark Upton, Coaching Science Manager from the English Institute of Sport are scheduled to present, as well as Sports Psychologists Dr Russell Martindale and Dr Tony Westbury from Edinburgh Napier University, and Murray Craig from the Physical Education and Health Sciences department at Edinburgh University.A total of two key note speakers and ten presenters will feature at the conference with more to be announced at a later date.To coincide with the European Challenge and Champions Cup Finals at BT Murrayfield on Saturday 13 May, a ticket to the Champions Cup Final will be included as part of this year’s National Coaching Conference package.
