Preview – FOSROC Super6 Round 7

Tomorrow [Saturday] Ayrshire Bulls will make the trip to face Watsonians who are currently top of the FOSROC Super6 league while Heriot’s Rugby will travel to Stirling County.

On Sunday, fifth placed Boroughmuir Bears will travel to fourth place Southern Knights for the rematch from last Friday night which will be broadcast live on Scottish Rugby TV and on BBC Sport Scotland.

Ayrshire Bulls will be looking to replicate their performance from their victory over Watsonians before Christmas although Head Coach Peter Murchie has made a number of changes to his side. In the front row Rhu Sauce starts at loosehead prop replacing Scotland international Gordon Reid whilst in the back-row George Bordill earns a start at blindside flanker.

Glasgow Warriors have released Stafford McDowall and Lee Jones who will fill jersey numbers 13 and 11, Tom Lewis starts on the opposite wing. Ewan Davies, Aylan Schabort and Grant Anderson could make their debut in the FOSROC Super6 should they come off the bench.

Watsonians Head Coach Fergus Pringle has also made several changes to his squad who played before Christmas. He will be looking for his team to put in a winning performance to cement them at the top of the FOSROC Super6 table. Prop Jack Stanley returns to the squad after sustaining an injury during the first round of the tournament and will pack down alongside Cal Davies and Harrison Courtney in the front row.

In the backs, the centre pairing of Joe Reynolds and DJ Innes will start ahead of Andrew Chalmers and Lewis Berg, on the bench Sam Grahamslaw could make his first FOSROC Super6 appearance if he comes off the bench after a long back injury.

Stirling County will be looking to move off the bottom of the FOSROC Super6 table when they host Heriot’s Rugby at home this afternoon [Saturday].

Head Coach Ben Cairns has made only one change to his side which travelled away to Goldenacre before the Christmas break, Glasgow Warriors have released Jale Vakaloloma who will make the start in the back row over George Arnott.

In the back-line Sean Kennedy and Josh Henderson combine for the first time at scrum half and stand-off and on the bench Angus Fraser, Olly Horne and Ross Bundy could all make their FOSROC Super6 debuts.

Heriot’s Rugby will be looking to maintain their winning performances prior to Christmas, Head Coach Phil Smith has had three players return from injury. Captain Iain Wilson returns to his familiar back row position and Chris Keen earns a start at loosehead.

In the backline Stuart Edwards returns to his position at stand-off and as a result Ross Jones moves to full back.

Charlie Jupp is the third player to return to the squad and takes up a position on the bench alongside FOSROC Academy Stage 3 player Finlay Scott.

Tomorrow [Sunday] the Southern Knights will look to continue their good performance from their first victory of the tournament against Boroughmuir Bears last weekend. Head Coach Rob Chrystie has made only two changed to his starting squad.

In the forwards Rory Darge returns from injury to start at number eight while FOSROC Academy Stage 3 player Jacob Henry starts on the wing with Neil Irvine-Hess returning to the match day squad, on the bench.

Boroughmuir Bears will leapfrog the Southern Knights and Stirling County to fourth place in the FOSROC Super6 should they make up for last weekend and earn the win away from home against the Southern Knights.

Graham Sheill, Boroughmuir Bears Head Coach, has made several changes to his squad from last Friday night. AP McWilliam and George Shannon have been promoted from the bench to start in the front row alongside Dan Winning. Scotland U20 squad member Gregor Brown starts in the back row alongside Craig Keddie and Scott McGinley.

In the backs Kyle McGhie also returns from Scotland U20 camp to join Chris Laidlaw as a half-back pairing. Ronan Kerr joins Greg Cannie in the centre and the back three of Jordan Edmunds, Glen Faulds and Cammy Gray remain unchanged.
