The FOSROC Future XV are back in action this week when they travel to Bridgehaugh to take on Stirling Wolves.
It has been two weeks since the young side have had a run out after their Round 8 fixture against Boroughmuir Bears was postponed due to 11 players being selected to bolster the pro-clubs, Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors, in their preseason friendlies against Connacht and Zebre Parma respectively and their scheduled standby week the following weekend.
This round, the team welcome Jonny Morris and Kerr Yule who have returned from injury after the World Rugby U20 Trophy campaign in July. Ollie Blyth-Lafferty is also brought onto the bench alongside his brother Jerry to support the pack.
It was a tough shift the last time the two teams met when the Future XV went home with a 92-14 defeat, however the team feel confident that with a more experienced and settled group, they will bring a more competitive performance to the field.
Head coach Scott Forrest said: “Having not played in the last 2 rounds due to our rest week and also having to postpone our game v the Bears, we are excited to get back into action against a quality Wolves team this Friday night. The players are looking forward to building on their last performance against the Knights and also for the group of Academy players who had their first taste of professional rugby with Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby in recent weeks.
“We know from our last visit to Bridgehaugh how good the Wolves can be when they have quality ball to play from and we are looking forward to facing another tough challenge tomorrow night. Our squad this week only has 7 players who were involved in that first fixture against the Wolves but we are all clear on where we need to improve to see a better performance this Friday.”
