Scotland Women 7s will play Wales, Russia and Portugal in the second and final leg of next months’ Rugby Europe Women’s Grand Prix Series in Kazan, Russia (Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 September).

The Scots will open their tournament against Wales (kick-off 9.28am), who they lost out to twice in the first leg in Paris, before playing second-placed Russia (kick-off 12.42pm) and Portugal (kick-off 3.12pm) on day one.

The top two from each of the three pools plus the two best runners-up will qualify for the Cup competition on day two, while the remaining four teams play in the Bowl competition.

Head Coach of Scotland Women 7s, Scott Forrest, said: “Preparations for the final leg of the Grand Prix Series are going well so it’s exciting to see who we will be up against.

“We faced both Wales and Russia at the first tournament in Marcoussis so we understand the challenge we face against them. Portugal have been a consistent team on the Grand Prix for a number of years.

Our aim is to build on the performance from Paris and confirm our place in next year’s Grand Prix.”

A top-ten finish after both legs will secure the Scots’ place in next year’s series, having reached the Cup stages in round one.
