The bidding next generation of rugby stars were today (Wednesday 18 June) visited by Scotland 7s internationalists at community events held at The Greenyards and Goldenacre, the homes of RBS Premiership champions Melrose and RBS Cup winners Heriot’s respectively.Scott Wight along with twins Gregor and Lewis Young, visited the Borders to help out at a youth sevens tournament for S1s at the home of the abbreviated game, The Greenyards. Meanwhile, Scott Riddell, James Johnstone and James Fleming went along to Goldenacre to lend a hand at a kids’ training session.The tournament at The Greenyards coincided with the Queens Baton Relay passing through Melrose.Wight, who will be competing for Team Scotland at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, said: “There was a really good atmosphere, with eight teams from all over Scotland competing, and playing a lot of good rugby.”We held a question and answer session – along with England 7s players Matt Turner and Alex Gray, who flew up for the day- to chat about sevens and its role in the Commonwealth Games, which the kids seemed really excited about.  “Being a Melrose boy, it was great to see the Queen’s Baton being paraded through the town, making it even more special that it came past the home of sevens.
