Scotland first to face Rugby World Cup winners

20 Nov 2019

Scotland will be the first national team to face newly crowned Rugby World Cup champions, South Africa, on the 2020 summer tour it was confirmed today.

The back-to-back Tests on Saturday 4 and 11 July (location and kick-off TBC) will be followed by a third and final Test against New Zealand on Saturday 18 July (location and kick-off TBC), making it arguably Scotland’s toughest tour schedule of the modern era.

It will the first time in several years that Scotland have played the leading southern hemisphere sides on their own soil, last facing the Springboks in Port Elizabeth on tour in 2014 and New Zealand in Auckland some 20 years ago.

The news follows confirmation Scotland will host Argentina, Japan and the All Blacks in the 2020 Autumn Tests at BT Murrayfield later that year.

A three-match Autumn Test Package will go on sale pre-Christmas to enable fans to snap up some of the hottest tickets in the 2020 rugby calendar.

Tickets to see Scotland play at home next year are moving fast, with BT Murrayfield already a 67,000 sell-out for the 2020 Calcutta Cup match against England.

Tickets for the second home game of the 2020 Guinness Six Nations against France (Sunday 8 March) will go on public sale tomorrow (Thursday) at 10am.
