Scotland Medical Update
14 Nov 2010
Scotland doctor James Robson reported today that seven players would require further medical assessment following the loss to New Zealand in the EMC Autumn Test at Murrayfield yesterday. Of the backs, scrum-half and captain Mike Blair rested at home overnight following the head knock that forced his first-half departure; centre Max Evans, who was able to attend the post-match function, sustained a shoulder “stinger” and had been stretchered from the field merely as a precaution; while wing Rory Lamont (tight quad) and full-back Hugo Southwell (tight hamstring) were also seen by the medical team today. Among the forwards the casualties included lock Richie Gray (dead leg), flanker John Barclay (ankle) and prop Alasdair Dickinson (shoulder). Dr Robson said: “As ever we also have a number of other bumps and bruises that you would expect from a Test match. All injuries will be subject to further assessment over the next 24-48 hours.”
