Scotland Women finish fourth in Six Nations

Scotland Women have secured their highest finish in the Six Nations since 2010 following wins against Wales and Italy.The Scots defeated Italy for the first time since 2009 in the final round at Broadwood Stadium to secure two home wins in this year’s edition.It’s been over a decade since Scotland Women have won two games in the Championship – the last double coming in 2006 when they defeated Ireland and Spain.They opened the tournament with a narrow loss to Ireland, who scored in the final play of the match to avoid a draw, and bounced back from a disappointing loss in France to defeat Wales at home.They proved their mettle against the Welsh with a remarkable come back to break a seven year Six Nations hoodoo, with Sarah Law converting a match-winning penalty in the final minutes to clinch a one-point win.Following a heavy defeat to England, Scotland fought back once again from a 12-point deficit to defeat Italy.Head Coach Shade Munro said: “They came from behind in both matches to get the wins against Wales and Italy.This group has made real progress. We’ve had more games this season and they’ve learned from every game, regardless of the result they’ve learned from the experience.”The understanding of the way we are trying to play is also getting better.  “The BT Sport Academy and pathway has certainly got players fitter. We are in a better place at the end of this season compared to last year.”They are a very young side with so much potential.
