Scotland Women U19 do the double over England North at the School Games
5 Sep 2017
Scotland Women U19 enjoyed a competitive tournament as they contested the 2017 School Games in Loughborough.Following regular training in the lead up to the event, a squad of 12 travelled south to play regional teams from England, Wales and Ireland. The development side’s fifth year at the Games, which is a multi-sport event for British athletes of school age, saw them come away with two wins over England North and a draw with England Midlands. The squad enjoyed a closely fought tournament scoring 16 tries in the process as they took on the UK’s best young players – Evie Gallagher leading the squad scoring with five. The School Games also provided a development opportunity for coaches.Head Coach Louise Dalgliesh and Assistant Coach Claire Cruikshank are in the first intake of the Female Coach Mentoring Programme – launched by Scottish Rugby in 2016 to develop up and coming coaches in the women’s game. For more information on the tournament and full results please visit the School Games website.Scotland Women U19 7s squad at the Schools Games, Loughborough University:Rebecca Bestwick (Garioch)Sula Callender (Murrayfield Wanderers)Evie Gallagher (Stirling County)Vicky Goodwin (Stirling County)Melanie Grant (Hillhead Jordanhill/Grange Academy)Charlotte Hope (Murrayfield Wanderers)Elis Martin (Hillhead Jordanhill)Kirsty Martin (Stirling County/Hillhead Jordanhill/Lenzie Academy)Morven Rough (Perthshire Rugby)Erin Sinclair (Stirling County)Emma Turner (Murrayfield Wanderers)Rachel Waddell (Ayr/Hillhead Jordanhill)
