Scottish Rugby has developed a comprehensive and successful ticketing strategy designed to reward fan loyalty and ensure as many Scotland fans as possible can watch their national team. Over recent years, BT Murrayfield has welcomed record crowds (attendances have grown for our Autumn Tests by 67% since 2005 for example) ensuring the team play in front of a sell-out stadium which in turn allows Scottish Rugby to re-invest more money than ever before into grassroots rugby and grow the game at every level.A number of ticketing offers have been developed to reward loyal Scotland fans including the increasingly popular Scotland Season Pass, which is not resalable, alongside Autumn Test and RBS 6 Nations packages. These packages were on sale to the general public between May – November 2016.Fans also have access to match tickets through being members of their local rugby club, joining the Scotland Supporters club or coming as a group through our Groups and Schools offer.Individual match tickets were made available in November 2016, with a waiting list available for fans to register once available tickets had sold out. Since then, fans on the waiting list have been contacted and had the opportunity to purchase returned tickets as they became available.Due to returns from hospitality and prior rights, fans have also been still able to buy tickets on match week from Scottish Rugby. By signing up to Scottish Rugby’s official ezine, fans are kept up to date with on sale dates and the latest ticketing availability.By implementing these strategies more Scotland fans than ever before are attending our games due to the nature of the packages with Scotland fans purchasing multi game packages.Scottish Rugby is the only home union that still offers U18 and Student concessions for every game and encourage children to enjoy the games through our Groups and Schools offer. We closely monitor buying patterns during any public sale and have maximum purchase limits in place to prevent large volumes of tickets being bought. Any suspicious transactions are cancelled and tickets returned to public sale.Scottish Rugby has been in partnership with viagogo since 2013 to ensure a safe and secure platform for any fans who wish to re-sell their tickets. As our Autumn Test partner in 2013 and 2014, not only has this partnership allowed us to reduce ticket touting at games, it’s enabled us to re-invest millions of pounds back into rugby in Scotland. The ticket seller (not Scottish Rugby) is responsible for setting the price of their ticket and a high list price doesn’t automatically mean that is the price the ticket is sold for.Tickets for the Ireland game have been listed below face value £59 for an£85 gold ticket) two days prior to the game, also demonstrating that there are a variety of ticket options available and in some cases fans will accept a loss to exchange a ticket.Tickets are listed on viagogo and all other secondary ticketing markets for every sports and entertainment event in the world. Viagogo also enjoy partnerships with the ATP tour, Hong Kong sevens, World Darts and a number of other major events.
