Scottish Rugby Development Team hit the road

6 Nov 2018

Scottish Rugby’s newly appointed Rugby Development Dept. will be holding a series of club roadshows throughout November and December, as part of its ongoing commitment to the domestic game.

The series of workshops will enable new regional staff to work more closely with clubs, schools and other stakeholders across the length and breadth of the country.

Following a recruitment drive Scottish Rugby has increased its staff in the regions, with five Regional Directors, 12 Regional Managers and Regional Administrators now in place to support the national club game.

The forums, which are open to all club officials, will be an opportunity to help drive and deliver the direction of travel and the identification of regional priorities for the development of Scottish Rugby.

It will be an opportunity to meet the key members of Scottish Rugby staff in their respective local areas and discuss topics of interest to clubs locally and nationally.

The workshops will commence in Stirling during November and make their way across the country, concluding in December.

Ahead of the workshops, Sheila Begbie, Scottish Rugby’s Director of Rugby Development said, “This is an exciting time for the community game as our new regional model is about decentralising delivery, decision making, and budgets into the regions to ensure clubs, schools and our stakeholders work together to develop the game and the priorities agreed as a region.

“The roadshows will provide our clubs and schools with the opportunity of shaping their regions and identifying the priorities in their area – we are clear that this is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach and that the new structure will allow local demographics and idiosyncrasies to be taken into account.”
