Scottish Rugby recognises its duty to ensure that the game at all levels is played in the best possible sporting manner. It takes all allegations of illegal and foul play very seriously and would not hesitate to act if it felt it was appropriate to do so. Scottish Rugby is satisfied that there is no need to take further action and categorically denies the allegation that any act of illegal or foul play was committed in the phase of play concerned, in Saturday’s Scotland v Ireland RBS 6 Nations match. Below is the statement issued by the Six Nations this afternoon. The independent citing commissioner at the match between Scotland and Ireland on Saturday, Brian Fowler (Wales), has confirmed that, after studying all the footage and evidence provided to him after the match, using all means at his disposal in the time permitted of 50 hours from kick-off, including enhanced images on game analysis software, he has found no incidents of foul play to cite under the 6 Nations and IRB regulations under which all matches in the RBS 6 Nations Championship are played. Meanwhile, two players involved in Scotland’s match against Ireland last weekend missed this afternoon’s training session at Murrayfield as preparations began in earnest for the final RBS 6 Nations match against France in Paris this Saturday. Prop Gavin Kerr (thigh) and Chris Paterson (mild groin strain) sat out the practice and are now in the care of Scotland’s medical team. Neither injury is regarded as serious. Ten players have been added to those players who were on duty at the weekend. In the forwards, Johnnie Beattie, Alastair Kellock, Donnie Macfadyen (all Glasgow Warriors), Bruce Douglas (Border Reivers) and Alasdair Strokosch (Edinburgh Rugby); in the backs, Thom Evans and Graeme Morrison (both Glasgow Warriors), Phil Godman (Edinburgh Rugby), Ben MacDougall (Border Reivers) and Nikki Walker (The Ospreys).
