Tommy Seymour scored his first try for the British & Irish Lions as the tourists fell to a narrow 22-23 defeat to the Highlanders in Dunedin.Starting his second game in New Zealand, Seymour faced the daunting task of defending All Black winger Waisake Naholo and an even and exciting first half finished all square 10-10.The Scotland winger made a perfect start to the second period, plucking the ball out of the air expertly before showing his pace to run in the try and give the Lions the lead. The Highlanders fought back to lead with three minutes to play and a late Elliot Daly penalty from his own half fell just short meaning it was the home side that claimed the victory. Before the match it was confirmed that Stuart Hogg has been ruled out for the remainder of the tour following a facial fracture he picked up in the game against the Crusaders. The British & Irish Lions medical team have been working in consultation with Glasgow Warriors and Hogg will return to Scotland for further treatment.Hogg said: “I’m gutted to be leaving to be leaving the Tour at this stage. “It is an honour to have been involved in a second British & Irish Lions tour and I have hugely enjoyed my time with the squad and I’m very excited about the potential of this group. “I’m disappointed to be leaving in this way but wish all the squad the best in the coming weeks and will be cheering them on from home.”
