Silver Saturday 2022 finalists confirmed

25 Apr 2022

Across the weekend of 23 and 24 April, six semi-final fixtures played out in the Sarah Beaney Cup, National Plate and National Bowl competitions to determine the finalists for Silver Saturday on Saturday 14 May.

All three finals will be played at BT Murrayfield with ticketing information to be confirmed shortly.

Sarah Beaney Cup

History is now set to repeat itself with Hillhead Jordanhill set to face Watsonian FC in the 2022 Sarah Beaney Cup final.

These two sides previously met in the Tennent’s Premiership Final earlier this season, and they also reached the 2019 Sarah Beaney Cup final when the title was last contested.

Hillhead overcame close competition from Corstorphine Cougars by just six points to cement their place in this year’s final (26-20).

An emphatic 51-5 victory over Stirling County sees Watsonian’s battle it out to retain the Cup title after winning it for the first time in 2019.

Watsonian’s are back in the final again after winning the Sarah Beaney Cup for the first time in the 2018/29 season.

National Plate

Ayr and Biggar overcame competition from Livingston and Dundee Valkyries respectively to lock-in their place in the National Plate final.

Winning at their home of Millbrae, Ayr beat Livingston 36-17, whilst Biggar enjoyed a dazzling 51-0 win over the Valkyries.

Greenock will have the chance to compete for the National Bowl after winning the previous season’s competition.

National Bowl

Greenock Wanderers will contest the title as current National Bowl holders, when they face Cartha Claymores in the final on Silver Saturday.

Greenock Wanderers beat Kirkcaldy 10-22 to secure their place in the final, whilst the Claymores’ won 0-36 in Caithness.
