With a rivalry older than football’s Old Firm, Edinburgh are set to take on Glasgow Warriors in the Magners League at Murrayfield on Friday 28 December, kick off 7.30pm to determine who will win the 1872 Challenge Cup. The first meeting between the two cities took place 135 years ago and the next meeting at the home of Scottish Rugby promises to be 80 minutes of adrenaline-charged excitement. It will be Scotland coach Frank Hadden’s last chance to see the cream of the country’s talent battle it out to see which players will be involved in the forthcoming RBS 6 Nations campaign. With a rivalry older than football’s Old Firm, Edinburgh are set to take on Glasgow Warriors in the Magners League at Murrayfield on Friday 28 December, kick off 7.30pm to determine who will win the 1872 Challenge Cup. It will be Scotland coach Frank Hadden’s last chance to see the cream of the country’s talent battle it out to see which players will be involved in the forthcoming RBS 6 Nations campaign. Glasgow are currently one point above Edinburgh on the Magners league table, but with the likes of Mike Blair, Simon Webster and captain Allister Hogg in the side, the team from the capital will be looking to finish the year as Scotland’s top side. The Warriors can call upon the likes of rising stars Johnnie Beattie and John Barclay, both of whom have recently signed new deals, and also Scotland star Dan Parks and Ali Kellock. Both teams have made the headlines for defeating Europe’s best in recent weeks, so this is a perfect opportunity to see your Scottish stars up close while they battle for supremacy. The match will also feature a pre and post match party which starts on the pitch at 7pm, with a choir singing on pitch, and a pipe band. Anyone who buys a ticket in advance to the game will also receive a mince pie on the match day. You can buy your tickets online at www.scottishrugby.org or via the credit card hotline 0131 346 5180. It’s staffed from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. You can also call in at the Scottish Rugby Ticket Centre, Roseburn Street, Murrayfield, which has the same opening times. Booking fees apply. Tickets: £15 (Adults), £5 (Concessions)
