WEEK 4 | Sarah Beaney Cup results

​Garioch and Hillhead/Jordanhill made sure of their places in the Sarah Beaney Cup quarter-finals at the weekend with final pool game wins.

The two teams made it through to the last eight which will take place in April after respective victories over Shetland and Hamilton on Sunday.

Shetland had set off on Friday for their match at Garioch and they were just as committed on the pitch as they were to their travel.

As a result Garioch had to fight hard to come out on top 38-0 and win Pool 11, Alana Davidson, Courtni Fritts, Alisha Ross, Liadh Broughton, Tina McIntosh and Chloe Matthews scored tries for Garioch with Ross converting some too.

Reigning champions Hillhead/Jordanhill made sure of their progress from Pool 3 with a thumping 107-0 win at Hamilton.

Hannah McHugh led the way with four tries while Ainsley Beaton, Emma Barlow, Felicity Syfret, Rieni Muldoon, Lucy Mills, Bex Francis, and Amanda Moore all bagged doubles. Erin Davie also went over.

Wigtownshire made sure of second place in Pool 1 behind Ayr when they defeated Biggar 26-20.

It means they progress to the Plate with Biggar in the Bowl and on Sunday Wigtownshire’s scorers were Ainsley McIntyre, Ellen Watt, Hannah Slavin and Rachel Kilday with Sophie Mann kicking three conversions.

Glasgow University are also through to the Plate competition after they defeated Greenock 60-5 in Pool 10 to finish second behind Annan.

Inverness Craig Dunain ended Pool 9 with a win at Stornoway.

Annis Anderson and Georgia Amor scored tries for Stornoway in their first ever competitive home game.
