Scotland internationals draw BT Cup rounds
Scotland Women captain Lisa Martin and Scotland U20 wing Ross McCann made the quarter and semi-final draws of the BT Cup and Sarah Beaney Cup at Oriam today. BT Premiership table toppers Melrose are set to welcome defending champions Heriot’s to The Greenyards in a nail biting clash between two of this year’s performers in the league.Elsewhere, BT Premiership side Ayr will host BT National League Division 1 outfit Jed-Forest after the Millbrae men pushed past Aberdeen Grammar Rugby in the third round.Stirling County and Boroughmuir at Bridgehaugh will make for an interesting contest between two sides who have experienced similar performances throughout the rounds of league competition.Glasgow Hawks have been drawn to host bottom of the BT Premiership, Gala, who overcame Borders rivals, Hawick, in the third round of the competition.In the Sarah Beaney Cup, defending champions Murrayfield Wanderers will travel to Melrose, while Cartha Queen’s Park go head-to-head with Hillhead Jordanhill at home.Edinburgh University, who have recently topped the BUCS Premier North league, will hosts Watsonians.RHC Cougars and Ayr go up against each other at Barton in the final tie after both clubs performed well in the BT Women’s Premier League. Martin and McCann are set to start in this Friday’s (3 February) Six Nations double header at Broadwood Stadium, which sees Scotland Women, and U20s take on Ireland in their respective championship openers.
