Eleven Scotland players were among the casualties from last night’s RBS 6 Nations Championship loss to Wales following medical assessment today. Scotland team doctor James Robson reported an assortment of bumps and bruises “symptomatic of the intensity of international rugby.” Among the backs Hugo Southwell required stitches to facial lacerations, Max Evans had a strain to his left arm, Joe Ansbro and Nick De Luca both had hand bruising and Mike Blair was suffering from calf pain. In the pack Al Kellock had a neck strain, Kelly Brown rib contusion, Richie Vernon a calf strain, Euan Murray rib bruising, Moray Low an ankle strain and Ross Rennie a dead leg. All will be subject to further treatment and monitoring by their clubs’ medical teams in the coming week.
